The debris produced is flushed out by simultaneous high-pressure jetting through a separate nozzle, clearing the broken scale forward to the next chamber. After the initial descaling pass, we jet the full length of the pipe at high pressure to remove remaining loose material and confirm the bore is clean. A final camera run shows the result.
What Descaling Fixes
The most common presenting symptom is a slow-draining sink, bath, or shower that does not respond to normal clearing. If jetting the drain has been tried before and the problem has returned quickly, the pipe bore is likely the issue rather than a discrete blockage. Descaling is also used to address strong rust and scale crust in Victorian or Edwardian cast-iron pipework — the kind of build-up that gives a jetting nozzle nothing to grip, and that rodding simply passes through without removing.
Drain descaling is also a prerequisite for drain relining. Before a resin liner can be installed, the pipe wall must be clean — scale, grease, and corrosion products prevent the resin from bonding to the host pipe and reduce the internal diameter available for the liner. Descaling before relining ensures a secure bond and the maximum possible bore for the lined pipe.

Descaling restores the bore of the pipe, but the underlying material — old cast iron or unglazed clay — remains porous, rough, and susceptible to further scale adhesion.
